Necessary Fiction
Doing our best since 2009

Good morning, everyone. I've got some recently published writing to share with you as well as some exciting contributor news.

This week we published Willem Marx' review of The Novices of Lerna by Àngel Bonomini and translated by Jordan Landsman. This is Willem's third review for us and we're glad to have him back.

And our featured fiction this week was "Dawn Chorus" by J.D. Strunk, a new writer in our pages whose work we are honored to share.

I also saw that early contributor Tara Laskowski received a 2024 Malice Domestic Agatha Award for Best Contemporary Mystery Novel, for her book The Weekend Retreat. Congratulations, Tara!

Meanwhile, Jeremy P. Bushnell's novel Relentless Melt has been longlisted for the Massachusetts Book Award. It was reviewed for us by Willem Marx, mentioned above.

And quite a few of our contributors (if I try to list them all I know I will leave someone out) have had their work chosen for Best Microfiction 2024, so congratulations to them as well.

Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
